The LAG Říčansko – the priorities of our strategy
The Říčansko Local Action Group (LAG) is a regional organization that associates local partnerships of actors from public administration, agriculture, NGOs, the business sector as well as active individuals.
The key aim of our LAG is to mobilize the development potential of the area in which it is active. For the Říčansko LAG this area includes 38 municipalities around the town of Říčany in the Central Bohemian Region.
The organization follows LEADER methods, the main feature of which includes the establishment of cooperation between the region’s actors to aid them in achieving their goals that would positively influence living conditions in these rural areas.
Our mission is to obtain financial, informational and human resources to develop our Říčansko LAG area.
The Říčansko LAG developed into a respected firm that has been sought after by customers requiring various services especially consulting on the Leader program and other grants. The Říčansko LAG, a member of the national Czech network of LAGs, closely cooperates with five other Czech local action groups: the LAG Podlipansko, the LAG Vyhlídky, the LAG Lípa pro venkov, the LAG Pošembeří and the LAG Svatojiřský les.
The Říčansko LAG regularly informs the community about regional events, grant possibilities and the National Rural Development Programme (RDP) etc. in the monthly community magazine Zápraží.

We support the quality of life in rural areas by organizing cultural events, markets, adult education, and by holding conferences and seminars (e.g., annual conference: Prayer for home - rural funding and cooperation.
We also actively work with young people (youth clubs, sport and leisure time activities). Our other interest is promoting tourism (especially gastro-tourism) in the Říčansko LAG region.

- civic amenities in rural areas - routes, footpaths and other infrastructures, buildings and village square reconstruction, parks, lighting
Annual conference: Prayer for home - rural funding and cooperation

The conference about rural areas and its future took place under the auspices of the Říčansko LAG and with the help and support of the LAG Aktivos. Foreign visitors – Mrs. Krista Antila from Finland and Mr. Ralf Börner from LAG of Saxony, Germany – also participated.
This year the annual conference is going to be on human relations in rural areas.
The Říčansko LAG´s future vision:
We would like to create proper conditions for Leader projects in the Czech Republic. In March 2011 a meeting with Mrs. Sihvola (Advisor to Minister of Agriculture in Finland, a member of the Leader committee in Brussels and person responsible for Leader in Finland) was held. The following were discussed:
- the present and future vision of LEADER approach for the period 2014 -2020
- vision of the Finland Leader program
- the Czech party received relevant materials and a power-point presentation
Conclusions of the Finland-Czech Meeting include the following:
1) Close co-operation between Finland, Ireland, Germany and Czech Republic on the professional education of LAG managers and LAG members for the period from 2013;
2) Future co-operation of LAGs (LAGs from the Czech Republic and Finland 2011-2013)
3) Realisation of international projects (to be submitted in June 2011 or in the next Leader challenge) – focusing on the local education of LAGs in Germany, Czech Republic, Finland and Ireland 2012-2013)
